Local exact controllability of a 1D Bose-Einstein condensate in a time-varying box

چکیده
We consider a one dimensional Bose-Einstein condensate in a in nite square-well (box) potential. This is a nonlinear control system in which the state is the wave function of the Bose Einstein condensate and the control is the length of the box. We prove that local exact controllability around the ground state (associated with a xed length of the box) holds generically with respect to the chemical potential μ; i.e. up to an at most countable set of μ values. The proof relies on the linearization principle and the inverse mapping theorem, as well as ideas from analytic perturbation theory.

Solitons for nearly integrable bright spinor Bose-Einstein condensate
Using the explicit forms of eigenstates for linearized operator related to a matrix version of Nonlinear Schrödinger equation, soliton perturbation theory is developed for the $F=1$ bright spinor Bose-Einstein condensates. A small disturbance of the integrability condition can be considered as a small correction to the integrable equation. By choosing appropriate perturbation, the soli...

We present exact results in the Thomas-Fermi regime for the statics and dynamics of a harmonically trapped Bose-Einstein condensate that has dipole-dipole interactions in addition to the usual s-wave contact interactions. Remarkably, despite the nonlocal and anisotropic nature of the dipolar interactions, the density profile in a general time-dependent harmonic trap is an inverted parabola. The...

We investigate the correlation properties of a one-dimensional interacting Bose gas by loading a magnetically trapped 87Rb Bose-Einstein condensate (BEC) into a deep two-dimensional optical lattice. We measure the three-body recombination rate for both the BEC in the magnetic trap and the BEC loaded into the optical lattice. The recombination rate coefficient is a factor of 7 smaller in the lat...
متن کاملNumerical Solution of the Gross-Pitaevskii Equation for Bose-Einstein Condensation
We study the numerical solution of the time-dependent Gross-Pitaevskii equation (GPE) describing a Bose-Einstein condensate (BEC) at zero or very low temperature. In preparation for the numerics we scale the 3d GrossPitaevskii equation and obtain a four-parameter model. Identifying ‘extreme parameter regimes’, the model is accessible to analytical perturbation theory, which justifies formal pro...
